Cookies Policy
1What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. It allows the site to remember information about you (e.g. that you’re logged in) on subsequent visits.
2Cookies Bookora uses
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
bookora-session | Strictly necessary | Keeps you logged in across pages | 2 hours (sliding) / 30 days if you tick “Remember me” |
XSRF-TOKEN | Strictly necessary | Prevents cross-site request forgery (security) | 2 hours |
bk_theme | Functional | Stores your dark/light theme choice | 1 year |
bk_cookie_consent | Strictly necessary | Records your cookie-banner choice (accept/decline) | 1 year |
bk_referral_code | Functional | Tracks referral attribution if you arrive via someone’s referral link | 30 days |
3Third-party cookies
We currently use no third-party advertising or marketing cookies. Stripe payment iframes set their own cookies on js.stripe.com when you reach checkout — these are required for payment processing.
If you sign in via Apple or Google, those providers may set cookies on their own domains as part of authentication; those are governed by Apple’s and Google’s privacy policies.
4Managing your preferences
- Use the cookie banner on first visit to accept or decline non-essential cookies
- You can withdraw or change your consent at any time via the Cookie Preferences link in our site footer
- Most browsers allow you to block cookies via settings — this may break login
5Cookies on subdomains
Some of our cookies (theme, session) are set on the parent domain .bookora.co.uk so the choice carries across our subdomains (login.bookora.co.uk, signup.bookora.co.uk, business subdomains). The same privacy and security standards apply.
6Updates
If we add new cookies (e.g. an analytics provider in the future), we will update this list and notify users via the cookie banner.
