Accessibility Statement
1. Conformance status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Bookora is partially conformant — some areas of the site do not yet meet this standard, and we are actively working to address them.
2. What we have done
- Keyboard-navigable forms and interactive elements across the main booking flow
- Colour contrast ratios meet or exceed 4.5:1 for body text throughout the site
- All form inputs carry visible labels and
aria-labelattributes - Images include meaningful
alttext where applicable - Pages use semantic HTML heading structure (
h1thenh2thenh3) - Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements
- The site is fully usable without JavaScript for core browsing (search, business profiles, legal pages)
- Error messages identify the field in error and suggest a correction
3. Known limitations
The following areas have known accessibility gaps we are working to resolve:
- Dynamic date-picker calendars — the booking calendar may not be fully operable via keyboard on all browsers; a text-based date entry fallback is available
- Third-party payment widget — the Stripe Elements payment form is managed by Stripe; we have no control over its internal accessibility implementation
- PDF documents — downloadable invoices or receipts may not be fully tagged for screen readers; contact us for an accessible version
- Business-supplied content — business owners can upload their own descriptions and images; we cannot guarantee every image has alt text
- Map embeds — interactive maps are third-party and subject to Google Maps accessibility standards
4. Technical information
Bookora relies on the following technologies for conformance:
- HTML5
- CSS3 (custom properties for theming, supports OS-level dark mode and high-contrast preferences)
- JavaScript (ES2020+)
- WAI-ARIA roles and properties
5. How to report an issue

6. Requesting an alternative format
If you need information from this website in a different format — for example large print, easy read, audio recording, or braille — please contact us at hello@bookora.co.uk. We will consider your request and respond within 5 working days.
7. Enforcement
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 in England, Scotland, and Wales. Bookora is a private company and these regulations apply specifically to public sector bodies; however, we voluntarily align with their principles.
If you are not satisfied with how we respond to your feedback, you may contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
