📅 Booking basics
How do I make a booking?
Find a business using search or browse categories, select a service, pick a time that works for you, and confirm. You will get a confirmation email immediately.
Do I need an account to book?
Yes, you will need to create a free Bookora account. This lets us send you booking confirmations and reminders. Sign-up takes under 30 seconds.
Can I book on behalf of someone else?
Yes! When booking, add a note in the "Additional notes" field with the person's name. The booking will still appear in your account and the confirmation email will be sent to you.
How do I know my booking is confirmed?
You will receive a confirmation email instantly after booking. You can also check your booking status any time under Account → My Bookings. If you do not see a confirmation email, check your spam folder.
💳 Payments
What payment methods does Bookora accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through our secure Stripe payment system. Apple Pay and Google Pay are also supported where available.
Do I pay Bookora or the business directly?
Bookora handles the payment securely on your behalf. The business receives their payment (minus a small platform fee) within a few business days of your completed appointment.
What is a deposit? Do I have to pay the full amount upfront?
Some businesses require a deposit to hold your appointment slot. The remaining balance is collected at the appointment itself. Where a deposit is required, this will be clearly shown before you confirm.
Are my card details safe?
Yes. Bookora uses Stripe for all payments — one of the world's most trusted payment processors. We never store your full card details on our servers. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified.
🔄 Cancellations & changes
How do I cancel or reschedule a booking?
Go to Account → My Bookings and click "Cancel" or "Reschedule" on the relevant booking. Please check the business's cancellation policy first — refunds depend on how much notice you give.
What is the cancellation policy?
Each business sets their own cancellation policy. You will see the full cancellation terms on the booking page before you pay, so you can always check before confirming.
Will I get a refund if I cancel?
If you cancel within the business's free-cancellation window, you will receive a full refund. Late cancellations may incur a fee or forfeit a deposit, depending on the business's policy. Refunds typically appear within 3–5 business days.
What if the business cancels on me?
You will receive a full refund if the business cancels your booking. The refund will appear on your card within 3–5 business days. If you have any issues, contact us at support@bookora.co.uk.
🎉 Loyalty & rewards
What are Bookora loyalty points?
You earn points for every booking you complete on Bookora. Points build up over time and can be redeemed as a discount on future bookings.
How do I earn loyalty points?
Points are awarded automatically when you complete a booking. You also earn points for leaving a review (100 pts) and scanning the QR check-in at a business (50 pts).
How do I redeem my points?
At checkout, you will see a "Use loyalty points" toggle if you have enough points. 100 points = £1 off your booking. You can redeem in any amount above 100 points.
Do loyalty points expire?
Points expire after 12 months of inactivity on your account. Making any booking, leaving a review, or logging in resets the inactivity clock.
👤 Account & profile
How do I change my email address or password?
Go to Account Settings (click your name at the top right) and update your details. You will receive a verification email when changing your email address.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Account Settings → Danger Zone → Delete my account. This permanently removes your profile, booking history, and loyalty points. This action cannot be undone.
Is my personal data safe?
Yes. Bookora complies with UK GDPR. We never sell your personal data. You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it at any time. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
